Hate Exchange 2021 Letter

The following is all optional stuff — if you have an idea for one of these hate-pairings that avoids my DNWs, go for it! I’m sure I will love it. This letter is just to give you some ideas in case you need/want them.

General likes;; hate sex (for romantic pairings), bitter and/or brutally honest talks, lose/win situations, lose/lose situations, power struggles, power imbalances, double crosses & betrayals,  too much pride, one (or both) characters unable to forgive another, realizing they are not so different, realizing they are very different, anger, resentment, revenge, love/hate relationships, obsessive hate, physical fights, verbal fights, hatred + sexual tension (for romantic pairings), fire & ice dynamics 

General DNWs;;  underage, incest, bestiality, non-con (dub-con is fine), permanent death of central characters, pregnancy/kid-fic (mentions of canon pregnancies/kids is fine - just not as the focus), tooth torture/removal

Notes for this pairing; 

I loved watching Sayid's hatred for Ben grow as the show went on, and though it's never explicitly stated, I assume that Ben must have at least resented Sayid for being one of Jacob's candidates. I think it could be cool if adult Ben actually did remember being shot by Sayid when he was a kid, and how that might change his interactions (or at least his thought process) with Sayid. He's smart and island-savvy enough that maybe he'd realize that hadn't happened yet in Sayid's timeline, or maybe he'd think Sayid was another non-aging character like Richard. It could also be cool to see something from Sayid's pov during their off-island alliance, as he starts to realize (or maybe he knew from the start?) that he's being manipulated. 

I would also not be opposed to a 'Sayid lives' AU, where Sayid is alive at the end and stays on the island with Ben and Hurley, and we get to see him as he stops, or realizes he's stopped, hating Ben. Or perhaps an AU where Sayid is part of the original time travel group (with Sawyer, Juliet, Jin, etc) and has to interact with the surprisingly nice and normal 10-year-old Ben. Really any direction you want to go with these two is fine -- as long as it isn't romantic or sexual. 

SAYID JARRAH & ANA LUCIA CORTEZ

Notes for this pairing; 

These two were amazing. They were so similar in so many ways but because of how they met they were never gonna just get along. I definitely see this as a one-sided hatred from Sayid to Ana, but if you want to go in another direction and have it be a mutual hatred, that's cool too. I would love to watch Sayid's hatred fade as his initial anger and grief ebbs off and he spends more time with Ana, or alternatively, him realizing he can never just not hate her, even after he's accepted that what happened was an accident and he's somewhat forgiven her. But as long as it's not sexual/romantic, everything is fair game. 

ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND

JAFAR / or & ANASTASIA

Notes for this pairing;

Their testy, trainwreck of a relationship was one of my favorite plots of the show and I would love to see more of it. The way I interpreted it, they started out disliking each other and gradually Ana's feelings grew into a stronger hatred while Jafar's lessened and he started liking her, perhaps in a love/hate fashion, who knows...

However, feel free to change this as you see fit -- I love reading other people's interpretations of this ship -- and I'm also not opposed to this dynamic changing in post-canon (maybe Ana enacts some form of revenge that strengthens Jafar's hatred or something) or in AUs. I like it best when there's a nice blend of attraction and hatred with these two, but that's not required. 

The use of dark themes is totally fine, especially for this pairing. If you want Jafar to kill Will, Alice, etc., go for it, if you want Ana and/or Jafar to try and kill each other, that's amazing. Torture, violence, dubcon, it's all on the table. I do request that you don't kill Ana or Jafar permanently in the fic (death+resurrection is great though).

Notes for this pairing;

I absolutely love these two as a couple but I love them just as much when they are hateful and bitter towards each other. In the source material it is mostly a one-sided hatred from Will but it’s totally cool if you want to change it up a bit and have a mutual hatred going on — or one sided from Ana — for whatever reason. Or if you want to keep it the same, also cool. Hate sex during Will’s heartless era could be neat. Or them absolutely roasting each other post-break up. Anything. I love them. 

ALICE / or & ANASTASIA

Notes for this pairing;

I love their relationship a lot. In the show they seemed a bit more like hardcore frenemies or rivals than full on enemies, but feel free to make their hatred more intense than that. I would love something with them just going at each other in whatever way you want to make them go at each other, or Alice learning to let go of her grudge against Ana.

OCTAVIA BLAKE / ECHO KOM AZGEDA

Notes for this pairing; 

I love these two a lot and I particularly love season 4 and 5 when they were the most antagonistic towards each other. Any idea you have for them will be welcome — hate sex is always fun, or maybe some bitter angst with Octavia feeling betrayed and surprisingly jealous after learning Echo was dating her brother? Or some AU — maybe they’re rival Azgeda spies? Or Echo is an assassin assigned to her ex lover, Trikru Octavia?

ALICE IN BORDERLAND

MIRA KANO & ARISU RYOHEI

Notes for this pairing; 

I would adore anything that has to do with Arisu letting go of his hatred for Mira — either a closer look into what actually happened during the Queen of Hearts game and/or his thoughts of Mira immediately after, or perhaps an AU where Mira doesn’t die at the end and they both stay in the Borderlands, with Arisu gradually (or suddenly) warming up to Mira. Or maybe they both wake up with memories and talk to each other in the hospital. I would prefer you take this relationship as a one-sided hatred from Arisu to Mira, because I can’t see Mira hating anyone tbh. This is my exception to my ‘death of central characters’ DNW, since Mira’s death is canon, but keeping her alive is absolutely fine as well.
